In math, we are going strong with Multiplication! We started with multiplying by 5’s. Then, 2’s, 10’s, 9’s, and now 3’s. We are continuing to practice in our math groups. We do flashcards and timed tests to keep sharpening our skills. On Friday’s we will be doing Fun Math Friday in order to keep practice those math facts and provide time to process and review what we learned.
We finished our MAPS and are finishing our running records. So, we will be beginning our reading groups early next week. We are starting a focus on characters. Not just who are the characters, but what kind of character they are and how they develop and change throughout the story.
In phonics we are doing a little review and adding suffixes to words. We are learning a few new cursive letters. We learned k, h, l, i, e, and b. We are also learning new homophones or sound alike words. Here is the spelling list. You can also practice on spelling city.
I am working on getting the kids to properly write sentences. One, making sure they are writing complete sentences. Two, beginning each sentence with a capital letter and ending it with a punctuation. Finally, reviewing the various type of sentences.
