  • 3rd Grade
This will be my 19th year at Notre Dame School. In the past I have been a kindergarten teacher, librarian and Supportive Consultant. I am excited to be teaching 3rd grade here at Notre Dame. My husband and I have been married for 26 years. We have three lovely children. Our daughter, Kari, finished her Navy training at the end of June and will return as a junior to the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Our son, Max, is a junior at Notre Dame Academy and our son, Alex, is in 7th grade here at Notre Dame. It has always been a dream of mine to teach at my alma mater. In my spare time I like to camp and attend my children's sporting events. I look forward to hopping through the year Fully Relying on God (F.R.O,G.)

Classroom News

Welcome to the 2018–2019 school year. I am extremely excited to be working with your child this year.

Please have your planner signed each night

What we are focusing on in school.

Math – see Mrs. Kohl’s webpage

Please practice math facts nightly.

Fundations–  We are on our last unit in Fundations. Unit 14 introduces the students to the glued sounds of ture, tu. I will later introduce the letter combinations of ti and ci.

Religion – We are preparing for our 3rd grade Mass on Wednesday, May 22.

English– We have finished all of the units in our English book. We are turning our focus to writing a planet research paper.

Science-   We are working on rocks and minerals.

Social Studies-  We will be working with our new social studies textbook this year. There are many new, creative ways to learn about the world around us in this series. We are currently working on cultures around the world.  We had a visit from the Mayor of De Pere and he told us all about his job. Please feel free to stop in and see our box community.

Reading  Students should read 20 minutes per day. This year we will be working in our guided reading groups, along with our anthology. I am currently leveling students for the last time this year. We will then focus on a few stories in our Journey’s book.  The third grade performed a reader’s theater for their kindergarten reading buddies. The reader’s theater was titled ” The Animals of the Chinese Zodiac”.

If your child is going to be late for any reason and you do not call in by 8:00-8:15 they will need to bring a cold lunch. You may even call the night before and leave a message if you know your child will be late.
